How The Center helped businesses in 2018

Updated: May 13, 2021

Each year, the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (The Center) conducts surveys to evaluate how effectively it's assisting businesses on an annual basis. The surveys, which are administered by an independent third-party, determine the economic impact of services provided by The Center, while also measuring the return on investment seen by its clients throughout the state.

In 2018, The Center assisted 425 companies, and those efforts returned the following survey results:

  • 10,651 jobs created or retained

  • $251 million new sales produced

  • $1.6 billion sales retained

  • $81.7 million in costs savings

  • $195.7 million in investments

When it comes to assisting manufacturers, The Center works directly with companies to provide expertise and services tailored to their needs. This can range from process improvements, workforce training, business strategy development, cybersecurity guidance and more. In providing these offerings, The Center helps manufacturers continue to grow and improve their competitiveness in the global marketplace.

Since 1991, the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center-West (The Center-West) has helped small and medium-sized manufacturers in the 13-county West Michigan region. It is the only objective, federally funded technical services group for manufacturers in West Michigan providing trusted training solutions to area clients.
